Release your feet
Your feet are the foundation of healthy posture and efficient walking. Balls and other materials are used to release your feet enabling intricate movements of the bones when walking to transfer the force smoothly through the body to allow for energy efficient walking.
Load your fascia
Small bouncing movements load the fascia to build elasticity in the tendons and the whole fascial system. Preparing for a movement by making a preparatory counter-movement maximises the fascial elasticity to make smooth movement. Eg. Bending your knees and pushing your feet into the ground before standing.
Greater elasticity and integrity of the fascia provides greater adaptation during more complex movement.
Unravel your fascia
Unravelling long myofascial chains with whole body movements, foam rollers and balls engages the whole fascial system. Creating more balance and integrity throughout your whole body rather than an isolated area.
A safe way to restore muscles to their full length and optimal function. A delicious yawn like movement for your whole body. Cats and dogs refresh with similar natural movements several times a day. Contract, slowly lengthen and completely relax. Thomas Hanna identified 3 main reflexes that humans adopt due to stress, injury or repetitive movements. Hanna referred to chronically tight tissues as Sensory Motor Amnesia (SMA); SMA alters the way you move and how you experience yourself from within.
Posture is a response. The ideal posture is the body being able to adapt to whatever experience. Being supported by the ground and sensing the space around you enables you to move more fluidly.
4 week Series: Monday 4th February - Monday 25th February 2019 at 6:45pm-7:45pm: Learn gentle and effective movements to release your spine and shoulders while gaining greater coordination.
3 week series: Monday 4th March - Monday 18th March 2019 at 6:45pm-7:45pm: Breathe Fully.
5 week series: Monday 15th April - Monday 27th May 2019 at 6:45pm-7:45pm: Theme TBC.
4 week Series: Monday 3rd June to Monday 24th June 2019 at 6:45pm-7:45pm: Theme TBC.
Duration: 1 hour.
Wear comfortable clothing.
Cost: $25 / class or pay upfront for a discount ($80 for 4 weeks, $60 for 3 weeks and $100 for 5 weeks)
Drop in / Drop out means a casual class. You do not need to sign up for the whole series.
